About Me:
I am a native Coloradan fortunate enough to spend most of my life in mountain communities, with easy access to forests that nourish my soul. I am in my second year of getting acquainted with beautiful Oregon. I have been a counselor for 26 years, having worked in private practice, outpatient community mental health, residential, and school settings. I enjoy my almost-grown daughters, my loved ones, the outdoors, music, travel, books, and anything that makes me laugh.
Treatment Orientation & Philosophy:
We all want to be happy and avoid suffering. All of us are doing the best that we can with the resources we have to work with at the time. My work promotes mental wellness, which is attending to the balance of mind, body, spirit, and emotion daily in order to make healthy choices and avoid unhealthy ones. By developing awareness of ourselves in the world and the motivations behind our choices, we can choose thoughts and actions that better serve us and those around us. I believe that we can all move beyond the limits of symptoms to inner flourishing and joy! Healing occurs through repetition of intentional thoughts and actions that actually rewires the brain.
I use mindfulness to teach self-regulation. Increased wellbeing comes from attending to the present moment and living intentionally in line with values. I am an avid explorer of the unconscious, with all its murky beauty that motivates us. I can guide towards a deeper understanding of self and the healing that brings. I am well-grounded in Transpersonal Psychology, Nonviolent Communication, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I utilize Cognitive-behavioral Techniques, Internal Family Systems, Solution-focused, and Projective techniques. I am experienced in adapting my methods to younger clients.
My passion is to help others find and utilize their inner resources for healing. I am honored to assist and guide in your self-discovery, wherever you may be on your path. Solutions are possible. Thriving is possible.
